Lake Chelan buying guide
Lake Chelan is a 50-mile lake with very different markets along it. Start with how you will use the place, then work backward.
1. Decide how you will use it
Full-time home, second home, or rental income? Rental income is the one that can break a deal, because the rules vary by jurisdiction and not every property can be rented short term. See the rental rules.
2. Waterfront, view or condo
True frontage costs the most and brings dock, shoreline and insurance questions. View homes just above the water cost less and need less upkeep. Condos and resort units come with HOA rules, so read them for rental limits.
3. Questions to ask first
- Is a short-term rental license or permit already in place, and does it transfer?
- Who owns the dock, and what shoreline permits exist?
- Water, sewer or septic, and fire access?
- Wildfire and insurance availability for this address?
- HOA or road association fees?
